God has designed us for a personal relationship with him where we would enjoy him and glorify him forever. Created in his likeness, God delights in showing his glory in and through us. But we have alienated ourselves from God because of our disobedience. Much more severe and serious than a momentary spiritual setback, the wages or penalty of our sin is eternal separation from our Creator (Romans 6:23).
Yet God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). While God has already provided the gift of abundant life through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we must receive this gift through faith.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
The Bible teaches that there is no one righteous. Not a single one of us stands acceptable before God or good enough for heaven on our own merit. We must come to terms with the gravity of our sin and our need for God to rescue us from his judgment. Because of his great love and mercy, God himself has provided a way for us to experience forgiveness and reconciliation through Jesus.
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
As a perfect display of his matchless love for us, God has offered up his own Son to die for our sins so that we could live with his righteousness. In total obedience to his Father’s plan, Jesus surrendered his own life on the cross so that we could be restored into a right relationship with God – experiencing freedom, peace, and joy through the Holy Spirit.
Romans 10:9-10
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Acknowledging that we cannot save ourselves through our own good works and that God has already provided the basis of our salvation, we confess our trust in Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. What we believe in our heart about Jesus becomes expressed through our words and actions. As we grow in our faith and faithfulness to Jesus, God showcases his glory through us as a masterpiece of his grace.
We believe that salvation is available to every person who desires a personal relationship with God, regardless of one’s background, age, or shortcomings. The best news about this gift of salvation is that Jesus has already paid the price and now offers it freely. Please reach out to our pastor if you are interested, or even curious, about eternal life with God.
Water baptism is a visible, public expression of our relationship with Jesus. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus are urged to publicly declare their allegiance to him through baptism.
Romans 6:3-4
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
We celebrate with those who have placed their faith in Jesus and are ready to share their joy in following him. Our church offers baptismal services throughout the year, and we will gladly prepare any Christian believer who is interested in water baptism.
We welcome all who are seeking to grow and flourish as a member of our church. Whether you have recently moved into the South Bay area, are looking for a new church, or have been attending Bread of Life for a few years already, we look forward to deepening our relationship together with God.
