Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
As the circumstances of our world are a little different this year from previous years, we have also adapted our VBS to be fun but as safe as possible for our staff and your families! Please take a look at the changes we have made below!
Prepare yourself for Illumination Station—the brightest week of the year! While many people claim to know about Jesus, many are in the dark about who He really is. During VBS, kids will explore all the ways light brightens, illuminates, reflects, and reveals.
Our annual Vacation Bible School is a week-long summer program that engages children through Bible stories, music, crafts, and games. We welcome both kids who attend our church and those who don’t to join us to learn, build relationships, and have tons of fun!
July 13-17 (9:00am-12:00pm) — Monday-Friday
July 19 (9:15am & 11:15am) — Song Presentations (Sunday)
Children entering K-6th Grade this fall

A VBS T-shirt, class photo, and all supplies & crafts are included with registration.
Yes. Due to the facilities and number of volunteers, each class has a capacity which limits registration numbers. A waitlist forms when individually classes are filled.
Appropriate clothing is expected every day, including closed-toed shoes for safety. Most of VBS is conducted indoors, however, recreation will be held outdoors.
Wednesday, July 15, is Picture Day and when we will distribute VBS T-shirts. Children will receive their T-shirt for class photos and take them home at the end of the day. They are welcome to wear them the rest of the week at VBS.
Thursday, July 16, is Water Day involving water games. (*Children typically do not get drenched unless they ask to be, so they may pack a small towel or change of clothes as desired.)
Sunday, July 19, is our Sunday song presentation in the 9:15 or 11:15 church worship services. Although not required, this is a great opportunity for them to sing 1 or 2 VBS songs for the church.
During VBS week, the Summer Day Camp operates only in the afternoon. Children who are signed up for SDC will be picked up by the BOLCCC staff each day at noon and escorted from VBS to SDC. Registration for Summer Day Camp must be done separately.
Yes! We love our VBS volunteers who give of their time, energy, and efforts for the children and this ministry. We will do our best to help all potential volunteers meet the requirements, understand our expectations, and have a memorable experience.
* Volunteers are not automatically accepted, even with prior history.
Due to California’s mandate AB506 and the related requirements for child safety and security, we are only able to accept volunteers who regularly attend BOL at this time (attend BOL consistently for at least 2 months). ALL volunteers will be required to go through AB506 training on their own online, as well as our two mandatory VBS training sessions that will meet in person. AB506 also requires all adult volunteers to go through livescanning. Even if you have gone through the training and livescanning with a different organization, AB506 requires each organization to run through training and livescanning separately, so we are unable to use documents you may have from having gone through it elsewhere.
If English is not your first language and you may need translation assistance for the AB506 online training, please contact the VBS director to make arrangements.
In general, we are unable to accept partial-week volunteers this year (all volunteers must be able to volunteer for all the days of VBS). Contact the VBS director if you have a special situation.
In addition, new volunteers are asked to go through an interview process to ensure VBS will be a good fit and experience for you.
Incoming 7th grade volunteers are required to volunteer with a parent/guardian as per church policy.
There are 2 in-person mandatory VBS training sessions for all volunteers:
Certainly! The electronic volunteer registration form lists all the various opportunities, and all potential volunteers get to select areas that are of interest. A VBS planning team will ultimately assign volunteers to the various roles for VBS based on the volunteers’ preferences and overall need.
Nothing. We value each of our volunteers and gladly cover all costs. Furthermore, we offer 1 complimentary child registration for volunteers to apply to their child or younger sibling attending VBS. Simply fill out your volunteer registration FIRST and wait for a volunteer discount code before registering your child/younger sibling.
